  1. Some clarification on Section 6: vSphere 5 Update Manager Configuration Maximums

    The first line where it says:

    1 = Maximum ESXi host upgrades per cluster

    Does that mean you can only upgrade one ESXi host at a time using VUM. If so, it's incorrect. I had a cluster of 6 ESXi 4.1U1 hosts and I was able to concurrently upgrade 5 hosts to ESXi 5 using VUM. VUM seems to do as many concurrent upgrades as the cluster will allow it.

  2. Hi Mr Frenzy,
    I'm going by VMware's documentation which says
    1 = Maximum ESXi host upgrades per cluster &
    71 = Maximum ESXi host upgrades per VUM server
    I guess that fits with what you were seeing with concurrent upgrades - only 1 ESXi host is being upgraded at at time, but the VUM server can do up to 71, one after the other.

  3. Hi Vidad,

    Under "3: vSphere 5 Networking Configuration Maximums" you have said that the "Maximum VMDirectPath PCI/PCIe devices per virtual machine" is 2 which is incorrect, it is 4 (or 6 if two are Teradici devices) as per the vsphere-50-configuration-maximums.pdf available on the vmware site.
