NetApp E-Series E2800 Setup with SANtricity 11.40.1

It’s ages since I did a NetApp E-Series post. Recently I had to install an E2824 running SANtricity 11.40.1 and I was impressed by how super-simple the setup now is (E-Series setup was already very simple). So, I thought I’d do a quick write up on how to do the setup (there are other ways, but I think this is the best) with a few screenshots of the process to illustrate this.

Image: First 4 steps - download two EXEs and install both

(1) Download SANtricity Quick Connect* from:
*See Appendix for features

(2) Download E-Series SANtricity Storage Manager software from: https://mysupport.netapp.com/NOW/cgi-bin/software/

(3) Install Quick Connect by double-clicking the exe and completing the wizard.

(4) Install Storage Manager by double-clicking the exe and completing the wizard.

(5) Double-click the Quick Connect shortcut and follow the wizard to configure management IPs

(5.3) And continue to complete the initial network configuration...

Note: You don’t need to use Quick Connect, you could just set your laptop to 192.168.128.100/24 and plug an ethernet cable into the Storage Array’s management 1 port, then carry on from step 6 below.

(6) Double-click the Storage Manager shortcut

(6.1) Either allow automatic discovery to find your Storage Array or manually enter the controller’s management IP addresses.

(6.2) Locate your E2800 storage array in SANtricity Storage Manager and right-click to ‘Manage Storage Array

Note: You didn’t need to use SANtricity Storage Manager, you could have just gone straight to the WebUI on the management 1 address.

(7) Complete the Setup in the WebUI

Firstly, configure the password

  1. Do you see an option to add another account with root admin role from the GUI?
